Polar bears face serious threats from global warming. As more sea ice melts, polar bears are left with rocky ground where there is no prey to go after. They appear to be moving northward. Global warming appears to be negatively affecting penguins living on the Antarctic Peninsula, because melting ice is decreasing the availability of food, causing the birds to swim longer distances to find sustenance.
