Scene Study With Walter Koenig

The reason I don't take acting classes at this phase in my life is that most often when I end up in one, they are generally geared toward the basic concepts behind the craft. That isn't to say that returning to the basics isn't a good thing or useful but I end up getting very little out of these classes because I'm not being challenged. I think I learn more by the process of being cast and working in that environment. Mister Koenig is everything you'd expect of an actor who has been doing his thing... read more

Walter Koenig (Star Trek's "Pavel Chekov") at the Mae Tao Clinic on the Thailand-Burma border

"Enough is enough." Celebrities Join the US Campaign for Burma to Call for Action on Burma at the UN Security Council Eric Szmanda (Greg Sanders on CBS’ Emmy-winning “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and Walter Koenig (Pavel Chekov in the “Star Trek” TV series and films) recently visited the Thailand-Burma border with Jeremy Woodrum, US Campaign for Burma Campaigns Director. Meeting refugees and valiant aid workers trying to help the people of Burma, they expressed shock over the extensive...

This morning, as I crossed Mass. Ave. from Holyoke Center, and entered Harvard Yard, a number of black youths walked past me on both sides. Caps tilted to the side, one or two with the pants cinched down a bit. I don't recall any school or shouler bags. They scooted to the right just inside the gate on the path between Wigglesworth and Boylston. I was reminded of "Weed Boy," he of the just-released DVDs in HSHS my first time in (and SalArmy from times previous - and seen just yesterday morning on...

A Stormy Los Angeles Afternoon

I had another slow start to the day. I'm still very spent from the weekend. I only just started to feel as if I could move. It was just in time for the ten minutes of violent storming that passed over North Hollywood. The wind knocked over my little lamppost and then had its way with the palm trees, which wailed in mighty protest. It's still dark, gusty and rainy in scattered, mercurial moments. I had a mysteriously impish phone call from the lovely ivy_blue monday evening. It's so rare...

TV Review: Babylon 5

Episode: Dust to Dust Writer: J. Michael Straczynski Season: 3 MIA: Marcus, Allan Ranking: 5 out of 5 Ever since the announcement on the news about the possible evidence of Clark being responsible for Santiago's death, the inhabitants of Babylon 5 have been in a tizzy and Night Watch has been behaving in a most obnoxious fashion. But for the command staff, that's something to be shoved to the background for now. They've just received word that Bester will be arriving and you can be sure it isn't...

TV Review: Babylon 5

Episode: Ship of Tears Writer: J. Michael Straczynski Season: 3 MIA: Marcus, Vir, Allan, Londo Ranking: 4 out of 5 Word has gotten out that ISN is about to come back on (after having been knocked off the air back in Severed Dreams). Imagine the disappointment upon learning that it's now merely a propaganda mouthpiece for President Clark. Meanwhile, Sheridan has been taking one of the newer model Starfuries they inherited from the Churchill for a spin when a distress call is picked up. He's quite...
